Because a man's skin is different from a woman's - it is thicker, oilier and has smaller sebaceous glands - we consider it to have a stronger ability to self protect and to fight against external influences. What we don't consider is that it is actually still quite delicate. Why? Because men, especially 'outdoorsy blokes', tend to expose themselves to a variety of environmental extremes that can give their skin a beating. Sun, wind, water, salt and air pollution can all reek havoc on a man's skin. Shaving is also a major aggravating factor. Not only does it destroy the hydrolipidic film leading to a loss of natural protection, but it also causes nicks and irritation and leaves the skin sensitive, dehydrated and uncomfortable. It is no wonder then, that men are becoming more concerned with their skin than ever.
